NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ - The George Washington women's crews traveled to New Brunswick, NJ, for the start of their 2004 spring campaign. The team gave a strong performance on the Raritan River. The weekend was highlighted by victories by the two freshmen eights. The women's varsity eight was edged by five seconds while the second varsity eight was defeated by nearly 12.2 seconds despite solid efforts.
"The race provided us with some good feedback early in the season," GW women's varsity coach Helen Betancourt said. "All boats show tremendous potential, which, ideally, will lead us to a strong season."
Both of GW's novice eights rowed strong races and defeated the Scarlet Knights by wide margins.
