LEWISBURG, PA (Sept. 23, 2001) - George Washington ran out of time in a closely contested match against Bucknell, as the Bison scored a late goal with 1:49 left in the fourth quarter to lift them to a 8-7 victory over the Colonials.
Bucknell and GW battled through 26 minutes of tied play, when the Bison scored the go-ahead goal. The Colonials took a time-out with 45 seconds remaining, and set an isolation play up for their leading-scorer Dodge. GW was unable to convert, and time expired.
GW (3-3) was led by seniors Josh Gimpelson (Ballwin, MO/Parkway West) and Kevin Norman (St. Louis, MO/Ladue) who scored three goals apiece during the match. Sophomore Patrick Dodge (Ballwin, MO/Parkway South) also scored, bringing his team-leading total to 13. Sophomore goalkeeper Chris Blick (Houston, TX, Clear Lake) had a strong match notching 13 blocks.
