Men's and Women's Cross Country Both Finish Eighth at Mt. St. Mary's
EMMITSBURG, MD (Sept. 22, 2001) - Junior David Talbird (Lookout Mountain, TN/McCallie School) finished 23rd out of 152 runners in the men's race and freshman Mary Beth McCullough (Brentwood, TN/Father Ryan) finished 43rd out 151 runners in the women's race to lead the Colonials to a pair of eighth place overall finishes at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational this afternoon, Sept. 22, in Emmitsburg, MD.
Talbird finished in 26:52, over a minute improvement from his time in the Towson Invitational on Sept. 8. Freshman Timothy Persico (Shavertown, PA/Scranton Prep) also improved his time from the Towson Invitational by finishing in 28:15.30, good for 70th place.
On the women's side, McCullough led GW by finishing in a time of 20:18.90. Sophomore Emily Jadwin (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Rutgers University) finished 46th with a time of 20:21.20 and freshman Erin Patton (Saline, MI/Saline) had another solid performance by finishing in 20:44, good for 61st place.
Next week, the Colonials host the Fifth Annual GW Invitational at Bull Run Park in Centreville, VA. The men's race begins at 10:00 a.m. and the women's race begins at 10:45 a.m.
