Chris Hennelly, who joined GW Athletics in 1995, is the Associate Athletic Director of Student-Athlete Health, Well-being and Performance. Hennelly manages a unit that includes sports medicine, sports performance and mental health. He is the department liaison with several campus partners to include: Student Health, Counseling and Psychological Services, Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities, Exercise Science and the GW Hospital.

Hennelly is the sport supervisor for Gymnastics, Lacrosse, Women’s Soccer and Men’s Soccer while also serving on the department’s senior leadership team. Hennelly is a member of the Atlantic 10 Student-Athlete Welfare Committee and previously served on the Atlantic 10 Covid Committee and the Collegiate Water Polo Association Board of Governance.

Hennelly is a 1993 graduate of Temple University and a 1995 graduate of Morehead State University. He is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association and holds additional certifications as a Corrective Exercise Specialist and Performance Enhancement Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
