The GW cross country team kicks off the fall season in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania for the Piper Cross Country Challenge. The one-day affair will kick off at 8:00 p.m. with the men's 6K, followed by the women's 4K at 8:35 p.m. Schools competing against the Revolutionaries include: Dickinson, Elizabethtown, Hagerstown CC, Messiah, Shenandoah, Shepherd, Shippensburg, and York (PA). The award ceremony is expected to begin at 9:20 p.m.Â
Head Coach Terry Weir returns for his 15th season with the Buff and Blue alongside Assistant Head Coach Samantha Nadel and Assistant Coach Justin Lupone. Nadel has been a part of the cross country staff since 2021. Lupone officially joined the crew in November of 2024 after volunteering for two years.
Senior captains Lola Dinneen and Brayden Bayek are both competing in this weekend's contest. In the 2025-26 season Dinneen was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Team. She finished 11th overall in the conference and broke her 5K personal best on last season's opening night (18:35.6). Bayek earned his 10K personal record (31:06.4) in the NCAA Regionals to finish in the top-50 (49th) for 2025-26. He was also named to the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team.
