George Washington opened conference play at home on Friday evening against Saint Louis in the Charles E. Center. The Billikens defeated the Revolutionaries in five close sets (22-25, 25-23, 25-20, 17-25, 11-15).

In the first and second sets, each team went toe-to-toe on every point creating an energetic start to the match. The Buff and Blue had a .312 hitting percentage in the first set that can be attributed to 15 kills and only five errors. The second set had only two less kills for GW but seven total errors which dropped the team's hitting percentage to .154. Nonetheless, the GW Revs were able to secure the second set win, 25-23.

Entering the third set, George Washington was aggressive at the net and spun ahead to get the set win. The momentum switched in the fourth set when Saint Louis changed their attack strategy and took the set, 25-17, with a .423 hitting percentage.

When it got down to the wire in the fifth and final set, each team traded clever attacks and smart defensive strategy. Despite the effort made by the Buff and Blue, the Billikens took the set and match win 15-11.
