The Atlantic 10 announced on Monday that Jasmine Black has been named the conference's Defensive Player of the Week and Sophia Michel has been honored as the Rookie of the Week. The Revolutionaries are coming off a 1-0-1 week, including a 2-0 Senior Day win over George Mason.
Black, who tallied her fifth clean sheet of the season against the Patriots, recorded four saves in the winning effort. She followed it up with arguably the best performance of her career, finishing with a career-high 12 saves in a 1-1 draw at Dayton. She finished the day with a .923 save percentage in 90 minutes of work, making clutch saves down the stretch to preserve a point on the road. In total, Black's week included 16 saves and a save percentage of .941.
Michel's big day against the Patriots lifted GW to a 2-0 win over the Patriots, tallying both goals, giving her seven on the season. At the time, she was tied atop the A10 lead for goals but has since dropped down to third after last weekend's matches. She ranks second in the conference in goals per match average at 0.7, while clocking in at second in points per match at 1.4.
Black, Michel and the Revolutionaries return to action on Saturday, traveling to VCU for a 2:00 p.m. match on ESPN+.
