WASHINGTON - GW volleyball carried its winning ways into Sunday afternoon, defeating the Morgan State Bears in straight sets to conclude the Battle of the Beltway. With the win, GW sits 5-4 with just one non-conference weekend left on the schedule. 


HOW IT HAPPENED 
·      The Buff & Blue never trailed in the opening frame, and behind 14 kills, the Revolutionaries took the first, 25-18. 
·      In the second and the third, GW used its high-powered offense to put down an additional 33 kills, out-hitting the Lady Bears by 14 to earn the Sunday sweep. The Revolutionaries took the second, 25-20 and in the third, held the visitors to a 25-14 set score. 


AN INSIDE LOOK AT THE NUMBERS 
·      The GW Revs hit an impressive .513.  
·      Cayla Cogan led the GW offense from the pin, swinging for 13 kills (.667) while also chipping in a block at the net. 
·      Sydney Hasenfratz, Alexis Rodriguez and Taylor Treahy put down eight kills apiece. 
·      Setter Abby Markworth captained the offense with 37 assists and three kills. 
·      On defense, Lydia Zeng led in the back row with 12 digs, and GW combined for seven blocks across the three sets. 

Up next, the Buff & Blue are set to hit the road, traveling to Boca Raton, Fla. to compete in Owls Paradise Classic hosted by Florida Atlantic. GW opens play on Friday at noon, facing the host Owls. Fans are encouraged to follow GWsports.com for the most up-to-date information.
