Volleyball Grounds Greyhounds in Three

WASHINGTON- GW volleyball trounced the Loyola Greyhounds in a quick three sets, earning its second sweep of the season on day No. 2 of the Battle of the Beltway.
HOW IT HAPPENED
· In the first, the Buff & Blue swung for 12 kills and hit an impressive .667 to fly past Loyola, 25-11.
· In the second, the Greyhounds were able to tie the score once, but GW kept its strong momentum, putting down an additional 14 kills — the most of the match to claim the middle frame, 25-18.
· In the third, the Greyhounds came out strong and held an early lead, until the Revolutionaries found a rhythm. After that, it was all Buff & Blue as GW took the set and match, 25-19.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
· Alexis Rodriguez returned to GW's starting lineup and led the offense alongside Taylor Treahy, each swinging for 10 kills apiece
· Cayla Cogan had another strong offensive showing, putting down an additional nine of GW's 39 kills
· Starting setter Abby Markworth dished out 34 assists
· Defensively, Lydia Zeng and Tessa de Albergaria led the back row, combining for 17 of the team's 36 digs
· At the net, Cianna Tejada and Cogan each chipped in two blocks for the GW defense
Tomorrow, GW is back in action in the Smith Center for its weekend finale, welcoming the Morgan State Bears for a 2 p.m. first serve. The match will not be streamed, and fans can follow the match with GW's live stats.
