WASHINGTON - Coming off the first 20-win season for the program in nine years, GW men's basketball Head Coach Chris Caputo announced on Wednesday that six key members of the program will be returning to Foggy Bottom for the 2025-26 season.
Second Team All-Conference selection Rafael Castro headlines the core group that will be back in the Buff & Blue. The Providence transfer will play his senior year for the Revolutionaries after averaging 14.0 ppg and 8.9 rpg and posting the second-best, single-season field goal percentage in school history (66.0%) during his breakout campaign.
Joining him will be All-Rookie selection Christian Jones, who was one of just five freshmen nationally to average 2.6 apg and 1.7 spg this past season. Trey Autry will be back for this third year in Buff & Blue after taking a huge leap during his sophomore campaign, increasing his points per game by 5.0 to 10.4 per contest and improving his field goal percentage, 3-point percentage and free throw percentage all by multiple percentage points.
Rising redshirt senior Trey Moss and rising sophomore Ty Bevins are set to be back again in 2025-26 after handling reserve duties this past season. Bevins finished the year with his first double-digit outing of his career, scoring 11 points vs. Boise State in the College Basketball Crown.
Additionally, GW anticipates the return of 2024 four-time A-10 Rookie of the Week Garrett Johnson after he missed this entire season while recovering from a torn ACL last summer. Johnson shot 40% from beyond the arc and averaged 13.4 ppg and 5.6 rpg during his 23 games as a redshirt freshman before being shut down due to soreness from a benign tumor in his hip.
