WASHINGTON — GW will honor Megan Hogan, the most decorated runner in program history, on Dec. 6 in recognition of her record-setting career and lasting impact on GW cross country.
A two-time NCAA All-American and three-time NCAA Championship qualifier, Hogan remains the benchmark for excellence in GW distance running. She captured back-to-back Atlantic 10 individual titles in 2009 and 2010, becoming the first program's first runner to win an individual conference title in 2009 and later broke the then-A-10 record with a 16:56 finish in 2010.
In her 2010 senior season, Hogan placed fourth at the Penn State National Invitational (20:36), third at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional (19:58) and capped her career with an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Division I Championship (20:19.6), notching the highest national finish in GW history.
In 2009, Hogan finished 27th at Nationals (20:34) to earn her first All-American accolade after dominating the A-10 Championship by nearly a full minute. She also represented GW at the USA Track & Field Championships, finishing sixth among a field that included just eight collegiate athletes. To this day, Hogan's name remains at the top of GW's all-time performance list for both the 5k and 6k.
A two-time Atlantic 10 Performer of the Year and two-time A-10 Student-Athlete of the Year, Hogan will be recognized during a ceremony on Dec. 6 as part of GW Athletics' continuing celebration of its program greats.
