WASHINGTON- GW volleyball took down A-10 and DMV-area rival George Mason on Wednesday evening in four sets, earning its fourth conference win of the season in the first of the two meetings between teams. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED 
·      The opening frame was the tightest of the match, but the Buff & Blue battled through eight ties and two lead changes to earn the first set, 25-23. 
·      GW dominated the second set, limiting the visitors to only seven kills and 10 points. Putting down 13 kills of its own and attacking .520, the Revolutionaries stifled the Patriots, 25-10. 
·      George Mason inched back in the third sequence, limiting GW to 10 kills, its fewest of the match, and earned the set, 25-16, to force an additional frame. 
·      Ready to answer, the Revolutionaries came out roaring in the fourth set, limiting the visitors in a quick 25-14 set to claim the match in four.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS
·      Cayla Cogan and Taylor Treahy led GW's offense, chipping in 12 kills apiece to lead the attack. As a team, the Buff & Blue swung 47 kills across the evening. 
·      Abby Markworth earned 39 assists at setter. 
·      GW amassed 49 digs, led by Alexis Rodriguez who had 11. 
·      Sydney Hasenfratz had a standout performance at the net, contributing to seven blocks while also adding in the same figure in kills. 
·      Standing out at the service line, Penelope Hiepler chipped in three service aces. 

The Buff & Blue now turn to the weekend matchup with Fordham, traveling to New York to take on the Rams in a two-match series. Action in the Bronx begins Saturday at 2 p.m., and fans can follow along via Fordham's live stats
