WASHINGTON – Head Coach Ganiyat Adeduntan has announced that seniors Caia Loving and Emma Theodorsson were named team captains for the upcoming 2025-26 women's basketball season. Nominated by their peers, Loving returns to GW for her fourth season in the Buff & Blue, while Theodorsson makes her Revolutionaries debut after transferring last offseason from Loyola Chicago.
"I'm excited to announce Emma Theodorsson and Caia Loving as our captains for the 2025-26 season," Adeduntan said. "From the very beginning, they have both displayed the true qualities of a leader, understanding that leadership is never about perfection but about showing up with consistency, giving your best and serving others. They have displayed these and several other intangible qualities, and I'm confident that they will uplift and uphold our values in an excellent way. They'll be the driving force behind our program rolling in the direction we all can be proud of."
Loving has appeared in 45 games over her collegiate career, collecting 93 points and 113 rebounds dating back to the 2022-23 season. Two seasons ago, Loving tallied 15 points and 10 rebounds, her first collegiate double-double, while also setting career-highs in both stat categories. Loving looks to continue producing for GW's forwards unit as the women's basketball program embarks on a new era under the guidance of Coach G.
Theodorsson, who initially began her career at Bucknell for two seasons, spent the 2024-25 campaign with A-10 foe Loyola Chicago. As a junior with the Ramblers, Theodorsson appeared in 30 games, making 21 starts. She led the team in rebounding at 4.4 per game, while also pouring in 9.4 ppg. Over her career, Theodorsson has tallied 875 points and pulled down 407 rebounds in 87 career contests.
GW opens the 2025-26 season on Monday, Nov. 3, hosting the University of the District of Columbia at 5:00 p.m. inside the Charles E. Smith Center.
