GW Mourns Loss of Former Lacrosse Student-Athlete Rachel Yaffe

George Washington Athletics mourns the loss of former lacrosse student-athlete Rachel Yaffe, who recently passed away following a courageous battle with cancer, inspiring countless people through her fight as she documented her illness on social media.
Yaffe appeared in 15 games for GW as a freshman in 2016, starting the final five contests of the season. Recognized on the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and named to the GW Athletics Academic Dean's List that year, the former Baltimore County lacrosse standout, was a three-sport star in high school at St. Paul's School in Maryland, also lettering in field hockey and squash.
Born November 11, 1996 in Lutherville, Maryland, Yaffe leaves behind an adoring legion of fans who she captivated through her charisma and courage, while the entire George Washington global community mourns her tragic passing.
