Men's Basketball Adds Antoine Smith Jr. as Grad Transfer

WASHINGTON - GW men's basketball continued the construction of its 2023-24 roster with the signing of Antoine Smith Jr., it was announced on Thursday.
"Antoine comes to us from a basketball family, with great experience in college basketball," said head coach Chris Caputo. "One thing that stands out is that he has been an excellent 3-point shooter over a large sample size. The combination of shooting and positional versatility defensively makes him an excellent fit."

Smith Jr. began his career at Incarnate Word in the 2018-19 season before transferring to Collin College in Texas for one season and then to Evansville for the last two years. The Westerville, Ohio native has accrued 109 games of experience in his four years on the court, starting 62 of those contests.
During his three years at the Division I level, Smith Jr. has averaged 6.7 ppg and 2.9 rpg while shooting 44% from the field and 38% from beyond the arc. Standing at 6-7, Smith has shown the ability to stretch defenses with his outside shooting, knocking down a career-high 44 triples in 31 games last season while averaging a career-best 7.7 ppg.
In 2021-22, his first year with Evansville, Smith knocked down a career-high 44.4% from beyond the arc and 49.4% from the field while playing nearly 20 minutes per game in 24 appearances and nine starts.
In his lone year at Collin College, he started all 23 games while posting 15.0 ppg and earning First Team All-Conference, Newcomer of the Year and All-Region honors. He began his career with 31 games (14 starts) at Incarnate Word, scoring 7.3 ppg on 45% shooting.
Smith follows in the footsteps of his father, Antoine Smith Sr. who played two years at both Dayton and Northern Kentucky.
