GW tops Temple in four sets on Saturday
PHILADELPHIA – GW volleyball stayed perfect at the Sheraton University City Invitational with a 3-1 win over Temple on Saturday afternoon.
GW outlasted the Owls in four sets, 25-19, 16-25, 25-15, 25-20. MC Daubendiek and Brittany Myers were named to the All-Tournament Team. Daubendiek tallied 28 kills and seven blocks across the weekend. Myers registered 36 kills this weekend, with three straight double-figure matches at outside hitter. Â
BY THE NUMBERSÂ
The trio of Myers, Daubendiek and Liv Womble continued to lead GW's offense, with all three players registering double-figure matches. Myers led the team with 12 kills, and Womble and Daubendiek added 11 and 10, respectively. Daubendiek's 10-kill match came with a .318 efficiency, the second-straight match that the sophomore opposite has hit above the .300 threshold.
Grace Allread tallied 23 assists to GW's 41-kill match with a .204 hitting percentage. Bella Bowman registered 14 digs to lead GW's defense and Tierra Porter blocked seven Owl attempts.
HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
After falling behind 9-5 in set one, GW took advantage of five Owl errors and put together a seven-point scoring run to regain control of the opening stanza at 16-13. A pair of kills from MC Daubendiek began a five-point rally that gave GW the 1-0 set advantage.
A match-high 13-kill set and five service aces for Temple helped the Owls to a set two victory.
GW swung with .370 efficiency in set three, boosted by 12 kills and just two errors. Temple's only lead of the third set came early on at 2-1, and GW put together a pair of five-point scoring runs to put set three away.
Temple maintained a lead until the 16th point of set four when a seven-point rally from GW put the Buff & Blue just five points away from clinching the Sheraton University City Invitational trophy. Three Temple errors and a pair of GW kills lifted GW to the four-set victory.

GW will begin Atlantic 10 Conference play on Friday, welcoming Loyola Chicago to the Smith Center for a 6 p.m. start. The Buff & Blue and Ramblers will finish the series on Saturday with a 2 p.m. first serve. Both matches will be available on ESPN+.
