The Colonials and Wildcats face-off Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN+
WASHINGTON- George Washington women's basketball will hit the road for the final time during the regular season when it travels to North Carolina to face Davidson. Tip-off between the Wildcats and GW is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, with live coverage available on ESPN+.
STRONG DEFENSE THROUGH IT ALL:
Despite some ups and downs throughout George Washington's season, the hallmark trait of Coach Caroline McCombs' team has continued to be its defense. With just two games left in the Colonials' regular season, the team boasts the second-best scoring defense in the A-10 and a top-25 scoring defense in the NCAA (55.4 ppg allowed). Coach McCombs is on pace to finish with a top-50 scoring defense for the eighth straight season.
GET BACK TO MAKING ASSISTS:
On Sunday against St. Joe's, GW was unable to rack up the dimes like it had in its previous five games. The Colonials only had five helpers against the Hawks, its fewest in a game since it had four against Davidson at the end of January. Prior to Sunday, the Buff & Blue had averafed 12.8 apg over its last five contests. The Buff & Blue also had three straight games with a positive assist-to-turnover ratio for the first time this season.
FINAL STANDINGS PUSH:
When GW takes the court this week, the team will have one final chance to make a leap forward in the A-10's standings. GW sits in 12th in the conference, but could move as high as seventh with a pair of wins over Davidson and La Salle and some help. Thanks to some timely wins, GW would have a head-to-head tiebreaker over Saint Louis and Duquesne.
LAST TIME AGAINST DAVIDSON
Wednesday will mark the second meeting this season between George Washington and Davidson. The first match-up took place in Foggy Bottom on January 26th, with the Wildcats coming away with a dominant 67-37 victory.
In the contest, the Colonials got off to a tough start shooting just 28 percent in the first half compared to Davidson who connected at a .545 clip. The Buff & Blue struggled from three in the contest, finishing just 1-of-17 with Maxine Engel putting home GW's only downtown shot.
