Mia Lakstigala records first double-double of the season on Sunday
LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Despite the first double-double of the year from Mia Lakstigala, George Washington women's basketball was unable to contain the Louisiana Tech offense in the second half of Sunday's game, falling 71-52 in the finale of the UNLV Thanksgiving Tournament.
The battle between the Buff & Blue and the Lady Techsters began as a back-and-forth affair as the two teams exchanged eight different lead changes in the first half. Lakstigala helped pace GW's offense in the first 20 minutes, chipping in 11 of her 19 points and leading the Colonials to a 28-28 tie at the half.
Unfortunately, the Lady Techsters' offense wouldn't be denied after halftime, and they rode a 58 percent second half shooting clip to the 19-point victory.
In addition to Lakstigala, nine different Colonials found the scoresheet on Sunday afternoon, including Jayla Thornton, Essence Brown and Mayowa Taiwo, who each had six points.
GW will now return to Washington, D.C. and prepare to host Ohio University this Friday at the Smith Center. Tip-off between GDUB and the Bobcats is scheduled for 6 p.m. with live coverage available on ESPN+.
