Myers led the GW offense with 10 kills
DAYTON, OHIO – GW volleyball fell in straight sets at Dayton on Friday night, 22-25, 17-25, 13-25. The Buff & Blue will have a chance to split the weekend series on Saturday at 3 p.m. from Frericks Center.
BY THE NUMBERS
Brittany Myers led the GW offense with 10 kills and just two errors to finish with a .364 hitting percentage. MC Daubendiek added eight kills and Olivia Harrison tallied a career-high six kills in her second career start at opposite. Grace Allread helped set up the offense with 17 assists and four digs. Dilara Elmacioglu added 10 assists and five digs. Defensively, Bella Bowman led GW with 11 digs and Tierra Porter came up with three blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Despite tallying a team-high 13 kills in the opening set, Dayton recorded 14 kills and three service aces to take set one. Trailing 18-22, a GW timeout cued three-straight points from the visitors, but a block and a pair of kills from the Flyers helped finish set one.
Dayton controlled set two from the opening point, never surrendering a lead and allowing one tie. A match-high 16 kills in set two helped the Flyers to a 2-0 set advantage on home court.
Five ties began the final set before a six-point scoring run by the Flyers created an eight-point cushion at 18-10. Dayton would allow just three more points for the Buff & Blue before earning the 3-0 victory.
