Buff & Blue captured fourth A-10 crown in five years
GW men's swimming and diving celebrated its fourth Atlantic 10 title in five years on Saturday night, capping a dominant run at the four-day conference meet.
The Buff and Blue piled up 21 medals, including 14 golds, while setting four conference and seven program records on the way to 828.5 points, well clear of second-place George Mason's 564.
All 20 Colonials - 17 swimmers and three divers - contributed points to the winning total in a bounceback effort after coming up just short last February.
After winning six gold medals, Karol Mlynarczyk was named A-10 Most Outstanding Performer and Most Outstanding Rookie, joining GW Athletic Hall of Famer David Zenk on the list of men to accomplish that sweep. The first-year from Warsaw, Poland, was sensational throughout the week, highlighted by a Friday swim in the 100 back that would've been good enough to get invited to this season's NCAA Championship and rank No. 21 on the psych sheet.
Emils Pone, Marek Osina and Tyler Kawakami also landed six medals apiece, with five of them gold, to help push the Buff and Blue back to the top of the team standings.
