Women’s Soccer Falls to Georgetown in Season Opener

GW to host Delaware State on Thursday, March 4
WASHINGTON- On a rainy Sunday afternoon, the George Washington women's soccer team fell to Georgetown, 4-0, in its season opener.
Maria Pareja recorded three of GW's five shots on the day. Georgetown outshot GW, 16-5.
HOW IT HAPPENED
In the first 22 minutes of play, Georgetown was able to get two past GW goalkeeper Tamaki Machi. In the 26th minute, Pareja was able to take a shot on goal but couldn't find the back of the net.
In the second half, Georgetown piggybacked off of its first-half success, tallying 11 shots to GW's two and scoring twice to make it a 4-0 game. The Hoyas' Gia Vicari recorded her second goal of the day in the 52nd minute of action.
NOTEWORTHY
- First-years Lauren Prentice and Elizabeth Cruz saw 14 minutes of action apiece in their GW debut.
- Captain Kelly Amador tallied two shots.

GW is currently scheduled to host Delaware State on Thursday for its home opener. Kickoff from GW Soccer Field on the Mount Vernon Campus is set for 3 p.m.
