GW looks ahead to its trip to Saint Louis on Oct. 30
WASHINGTON – GW volleyball finished its weekend homestand on Sunday afternoon, falling to Rhode Island in straight sets, 16-25, 18-25, 20-25.
GW had nine different student-athletes add to its offense that produced 27 kills. Addie Feek led with six kills, and Sarah Pintel contributed five.
The Rams came out on the attack in set one, tallying ten quick kills to push to a 13-5 advantage. GW couldn't erase the deficit, and Rhode Island went on to add 12 more kills in the set to take set one.
In set two, GW gained the early lead behind four Ram errors, a pair of kills from Markella Lanara and a service ace. The visitors would quickly erase GW's 7-4 edge, stringing together five consecutive points to regain control at 13-10. Another four-point scoring run by the visitors helped create more separation, with the Rams now leading 18-13. Rhode Island went on to outscore GW 5-2 to close out the set.
Despite GW's match-high 11 kills in the final set, the Rams' offense produced 14 kills with .294 efficiency to earn the three-set victory.
UP NEXT: GW will visit Saint Louis on Saturday, Oct. 30, for an 8 p.m. start vs. the Billikens.
