
Women's Soccer Draws with Davidson in Season Finale

Six commemorated during Senior Day ceremony
WASHINGTON - GW women's soccer put a capper on its 2021 season Sunday, with a 1-1 double overtime draw to Davidson at the Mount Vernon Campus.
GW scored 15 minutes into the contest, but was unable to put another goal behind Davidson goalkeeper Emily Smith.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-15th Minute: GW's struck first when Sophia Danyko-Kulchycky made her way down the far sideline, and delivered a beautiful ball into the box that found the head of Kelly Amador. Amador's goal was her fifth this season, and her third in the last two games.
-54th Minute: Davidson was able to tie the match up after Hannah Casey finessed her way behind the GW backline, and buried a shot into the top left corner of the net.
NOTEWORTHY
-GW set a season high with 23 shots on Sunday, including 12 shots on goal.
-Amador set a new career high with her fifth goal of the season. She ends the 2021 campaign tied with Alicia Window for the team lead in goals.
-Amador finishes as GW's points leader on the year. Her total of 14 is the highest of her career.
-Senior Erica Lorenzana tied her career high with five saves on Sunday.
-GW led Davidson by a 6-3 margin in corner opportunities.
-Amador, Lorenzana, Danyko-Kulchycky, Madi Coyne, Maria Pareja, and Beth Ellinport were honored during pregame Senior Day festivities.
