7/6/2020 9:58:00 AM | My GW: Celebrating our Stories
Welcome back to Beyond the Bio, where we'll get to know more about the people behind the scenes at GW Athletics.
Â
In this edition, we learn about Simone Morin, who is entering her third year with the Buff and Blue family. As an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach, Simone primarily works with women's basketball, volleyball and women's rowing. Let's dive deeper in Simone's passions, favorite places and what she loves most about being a Colonial.
Â
When I'm not working, my favorite thing to do is?
I love to go rock climbing or do anything outside - hiking, biking, etc.Â
Â
If I was an animal, I would be?
I would be a hippo, as their capabilities are highly underrated. Hippos are typically portrayed in cartoons and such as goofy or cute animals, when they are actually quite fast and strong. When people first see me (being 5-foot-2 with kid-size shoes) they don't automatically think strength coach. And hippos are my favorite animal.
Â
If I could only eat one meal for every meal for the rest of my life, it would be?
Steak and mashed potatoes
Â
My favorite place I've ever been is?
St. Lucia - it is a beautiful island with a really unique landscape and awesome culture.Â
Â
If I could have coffee with anybody in the world, living or historical, he/she would be?
I would love to have coffee with Michelle Obama. She is so motivational and educated on issues we face as a country and even globally that I would love to pick her brain and just hear what she has to say.
Â
The one job in GW Athletics I'd like to do for a day is?
For only one day, I would like to see what it is like to be a Director of Operations for a specific team. Their jobs are so versatile and complicated I would love to get a better understanding of all of the things they have to keep in mind and work on everyday. I really respect how much they are able to manage, yet also know there are so many things they have to organize that one day on the job would probably be plenty for me!
Â
The person I'm most inspired by is?
My parentsÂ
Â
My favorite book, movie, TV show or podcast is?
Book:Â Deliberate Discomfort
Movie: Secondhand Lions
TV Show:Â Parks and Rec
Â
My top #OnlyAtGWÂ moment was?
Running the Lincoln steps with Women's Basketball and discussing having dreams and passions with the team right on the step where Martin Luther King gave his "I Have a Dream" Speech.Â
Â
If I could be granted the gift of elite athleticism, I'd like to be able to?
Gymnastics - I've always been amazed by that sport and would love to be able to be that in tune with what my body can do.
