Beyond the Bio: Anna Sody
5/26/2020 11:02:00 AM | My GW: Celebrating our Stories
Welcome back to Beyond the Bio, where we'll get to know more about the people behind the scenes at GW Athletics.
Â
In this edition, we learn about Anna Sody who is in her second year as a member of the Buff & Blue. Anna is the Associate Director of Development and has the pleasure of aligning the interests and resources of our GW supporters with the mission of the Athletics Department. Let's take a deeper dive into Anna's passions, favorite places, and what she loves most about being a Colonial.
Â
When I'm not working, my favorite thing to do is?
I love to dance! Any reason to get up and move around is good enough for me, even at work!
Â
If I was an animal, I would be?
A lion – I already have the mane!
Â
If I could only eat one meal for every meal for the rest of my life, it would be?
Tacos. My husband and I make tacos at least twice a week. I enjoy coming up with creative fillers. My favorite at the moment is grilled pineapple. So good!
Â
My favorite place I've ever been is?
The top of Vail in Colorado. On a sunny day, you have this breathtaking view of snow-capped peaks as far as the eye can see.Â
If I could have coffee with anybody in the world, living or historical, he/she would be?
It would have to be my mom. I lost her two years ago to cancer and would love another opportunity to share stories and laughs.
              Â
The one job in GW Athletics I'd like to do for a day is?
I would love to join the Academic Support and Life Skills team. I enjoy working with student-athletes and reinforcing skills that will help them succeed in their academic, competitive, and professional pursuits.
Â
The person I'm most inspired by is?
Angela Merkel
Â
My favorite book, movie, TV show or podcast is?
Book: The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference by Malcolm Gladwell
Movie: Erin Brockovich *High Five to Lauren Doby for loving this movie, too!*
Podcast: The Daily from The New York Times; NBC Dateline podcast
My top #OnlyAtGWÂ moment was?
It would have to be watching French President Emmanuel Macron walk from Tonic down to the Smith Center. He walked down the street and stopped to greet our GW students. Shout out to his security detail, as I do not think that was planned!
Â
If I could be granted the gift of elite athleticism, I'd like to be able to?
Compete in the Olympic Biathlon
