Beyond the Bio: Brendan O'Leary, Strength and Conditioning
4/13/2020 9:00:00 AM | General, My GW: Celebrating our Stories
Welcome back to Beyond the Bio, where we'll get to know more about the people behind the scenes at GW Athletics.
In our fourth edition, we learn about newcomer Brendan O'Leary, who is in his first year as a member of the Buff & Blue. Brendan is an associate strength and conditioning coach who works primarily with men's basketball, men's water polo and women's squash. Let's take a deeper dive into Brendan's passions, favorite places, and what he loves the most about being a Colonial.
When I'm not working, my favorite thing to do is?
Be outside! I'm usually fishing, playing hurling, camping, or hiking.
If I was an animal, I would be?
I would be a husky. They are very friendly, need to be outdoors and also require a lot of exercise.
If I could only eat one meal for every meal for the rest of my life, it would be?
Fried chicken and waffles
My favorite place I've ever been is?
Inch Beach in Country Kerry, Ireland
If I could have coffee with anybody in the world, living or historical, he/she would be?
Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame catcher Johnny Bench
The one job in GW Athletics I'd like to do for a day is?
It would most likely be as a baseball coach. I have always had a passion for baseball and I'd still be coaching.
The person I'm most inspired by is?
I would say my dad.
My favorite book, movie, TV show or podcast is?
Book: Extreme Ownership
Movie: Outcold
TV Show: My favorite TV show of all time is "Game of Thrones", but currently it's "Peaky Blinders"
My top #OnlyAtGW moment was?
It was definitely the 4OT win against Davidson
If I could be granted the gift of elite athleticism, I'd like to be able to?
I would love to be able to dunk.
