3/30/2020 10:00:00 AM | General, My GW: Celebrating our Stories
Welcome back to Beyond the Bio, where we'll get to know more about the people behind the scenes at GW Athletics.
This week, we learn about Kate Whitaker, who is in her first year as a member of the Buff & Blue. She is an academic advisor who joined GW from Arkansas State. Let's take a deeper dive into Kate's passions, favorite places, and what she loves the most about being a Colonial.
When I'm not working, my favorite thing to do is?
Hike and be outside
Â
If I was an animal, I would be?
A golden retriever. Friendly, intelligent, loyal, a little dopey, and fun!
Â
If I could only eat one meal for every meal for the rest of my life, it would be?
Salmon with green beans and rice
Â
My favorite place I've ever been is?
El Calafate, Argentina. It's a small hiking village in Patagonia and was absolutely breathtaking.
Â
If I could have coffee with anybody in the world, living or historical, he/she would be?
Michelle Obama
Â
The one job in GW Athletics I'd like to do for a day is?
Strength and conditioning because they get to work with our student-athletes in a different space than I do and build unique relationships.Â
Â
The person I'm most inspired by is?
JK Rowling. Her story is more than just that of Harry Potter. She has incredible grit, perseverance, and overcame her situation to become successful. Her incredible perseverance in the face of adversity is why she is inspiring to me.Â
Â
My favorite book, movie, TV show or podcast is?
How about three of the four?
Book: The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
TV show: "The Newsroom"
Podcast: "Office Ladies"
Â
My top #OnlyAtGW moment was?
Watching men's basketball win in four overtimes vs. Davidson
Â
If I could be granted the gift of elite athleticism, I'd like to be able to?
Complete an Ironman Triathlon
