Neila Luma of the GW women's basketball program was named the Colonial of the Week for her performance in the team's two wins to open the season. In her return after missing more than a calendar year due to a knee injury, Luma stuffed the stat sheet, averaging 17 points and 11 rebounds per game while shooting 59.3% from the floor.
Luma, who was also honored by College Sports Madness as the A-10 Player of the Week, was a dominant force in the season opener against Lincoln with 16 points and a career-high 17 rebounds. She followed that up with 18 points and five boards in Saturday's triumph over Old Dominion.
Luma and the Colonials return to action on Tuesday at Virginia Tech. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m.
