11/19/2020 2:49:00 PM | Men's Basketball
The Atlantic 10 Conference's men's basketball 2020-21 season schedule with national television dates has been released, with GW men's basketball featured on national television no fewer than seven times.
In the second year under the direction of head coach Jamion Christian, GW returns a bevy of experience and welcomes top talent as the team prepares for its season opener at Navy.
Looking ahead to the Atlantic 10 schedule, the Buff and Blue will appear on national television six times in conference play, including three home contests (Sat. 1/2 vs. Duquesne, NBCSN at 12:30; Sat. 2/6 vs. Saint Louis, CBSSN; Sun. 2/21 vs. St. Bonaventure, NBCSN at 2:30). Massachusetts, VCU, Fordham, Saint Joseph's, George Mason and Dayton will also visit Foggy Bottom this season. The date and time of the contest against Dayton will be announced at a later date. Regional broadcasts on partner station NBC Sports Washington will also be unveiled at a later time.
Nationally televised road games include match-ups at St. Bonaventure (Sat. 1/9, NBCSN at noon), Dayton (Sun. 1/17, NBCSN at 2:30) and Rhode Island (Sun. 1/24, NBCSN at 2:30) on three consecutive January weekends. GW will also visit Fordham, George Mason, Richmond, La Salle, Duquesne and Davidson.
GW's non-conference home game against South Carolina on Monday, December 14 will also air nationally on CBSSN at 7 p.m. The remainder of the non-conference slate will be released shortly.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pursuant to the District of Columbia's COVID plan for Phases 1-3, all games contested within D.C. must be held without spectators and for broadcast only. In Phase 2, personnel allowed inside venues are limited to facilitate broadcasting, with stringent physical distancing and PPE required.
GW Athletics understands the disappointment of the loyal fans, students, friends and family of GW student-athletes who won't be able to enjoy GW basketball in-person this season. Determinations will be made on other GW sports depending on continued guidance and adherence to city protocols. Participating in fanless environments this season adheres to D.C. regulations while still allowing our student-athletes a safe environment and the opportunity to compete.
All individuals, regardless of role or function, will always wear a mask/face covering prior to entry and within the competition venue, with universal masking and physical distancing mandated inside the venue except in the competition or medical care areas.
