Colonials wrap up weekend against Auburn on Sunday

CORAL GABLES, Fla. - Facing a quick turnaround following a five-set marathon on Friday night, the GW volleyball team was unable to muster much momentum in a 3-0 setback to Florida Gulf Coast Saturday afternoon.

Key Stats

• GW's offense was held in check by the Eagles as the Colonials committed a season-high 22 errors and hit just .054.

• The Eagles hit a robust .337 on the attack en route to the win, holding advantages in kills (45-27), assists (42-26) and blocks (6.0-5.0).

• Sophomore Bella Bowman topped the team with 10 digs, while first-year Addie Feek hit .400 (3k-1e-5a) and added a solo block and block assist.

How it Happened

Set 1: FGCU 25, GW 20

• The Colonials held a 17-14 edge following a kill from graduate student Caroline Sklaver but succumbed to three straight points and ultimately saw the Eagles rally off an 11-3 run to finish the set.

Set 2: FGCU 25, GW 15

• FGCU opened the set on a 6-1 run and did not allow the Colonials to get closer than three the rest of the way.

• GW was unable to slow the Eagles' offense, seeing FGCU hit .419 in the set with 17 kills.

Set 3: FGCU 25, GW 16

• The Eagles utilized a 7-0 run in the middle portion of the set to gain control at 13-8 and finished off the three-set win.
