Junior earned program's first field point with school record in triple jump

Nelson capped off a strong outdoor season by earning the first field point in program history on Sunday at the A-10 Championships. The junior reset his program record with a distance of 13.40 meters in the triple jump, more than a foot longer than his previous best.
Nelson placed eighth in the A-10, securing a point for the Colonials. It was also the third time this season Nelson topped the program best. He entered the year having never posted an outdoor distance over 13 meters and ended up adding over two feet to the record.
The junior owns five program records, including both the indoor and outdoor triple jump. Earlier this season, he also set a new GW record in the indoor 200m.
