Colonials earn No. 4 seed in A-10 Tournament
WASHINGTONÂ - On a night where the GW volleyball program honored three seniors and two graduate students for their contributions to the program, the Colonials made a final statement to the rest of the league in a 3-0 sweep (25-20, 25-18, 25-19) of Rhode Island.
The Colonials cruised to victory behind a season-best .376 attack percentage and season-low nine attack errors.Â
Senior Skylar Iott, who moved into the all-time top 10 in kills in program history on Friday, led the Buff & Blue with 17 kills while swinging .424. Classmate Jordan Young contributed nine kills herself while Jaimeson Lee closed her Smith Center career with 38 assists and four blocks.
Graduate students Caroline Sklaver and Paty Valle registered five kills apiece and combined for eight blocks in the dominating triumph.
GW came out swinging with a .500 attack percentage as a team in the opening set, followed by persevering through back-and-forth battles in the second and third frames for pull out the sweep.
The Buff & Blue now focus on the postseason, where they have clinched the No. 4 seed in next week's Atlantic 10 tournament and will play No. 5 La Salle at 3:30 p.m. on Friday in the quarterfinals of the championship.
