Junior paced men's water polo in historic NCAA victory

Destici sparked men's water polo to its first-ever NCAA Championship victory on Saturday at Princeton. The junior from Turkey posted three goals, five assists and three steals to help the Colonials erase a five-goal deficit and beat the Tigers, 14-13, in overtime.
A three-time All-Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference First Team selection, Destici became the program's all-time assist leader in Saturday's victory, passing Brian Mojica ('15). He has totaled 194 helpers over his three seasons in Buff and Blue, plus 224 goals, which ranks sixth in program history.
Destici, who leads GW in goals (84) and assists (72) this season, has helped the Colonials equal their most wins in a season with 23. They continue their historic run in the national quarterfinals on Thursday against No. 2 UCLA at Stanford's Avery Aquatic Center.
