The Colonials (6-3-0) return to action after a week hiatus from competition. GW's non-conference portion of the schedule was highlighted by a 1-0 victory over then-No. 17 ranked Arkansas on Sept. 4.
The Buff and Blue enter the week with the conference's best defense, holding opposing teams to a league-best 0.78 goals-against average and tied with an A-10-leading four shutouts.
Senior MacKenzie Cowley leads the Colonials with six goals on the season and is tied for a league-best four gamewinners with Saint Joseph's Dakota Mills.
Redshirt junior keeper Miranda Horn owns a 0.59 GAA to sit atop the A-10.
Saint Joseph's (7-1-1) currently owns the best record in the league and is tied for second in the A-10 with 19 goals on the year through nine contests. The Hawks average 16.33 shots per game - fourth in the league - and allow an average of 1.22 goals per contest.
The Hawks rank fourth in the NSCAA's latest Mid-Atlantic Region Poll and are in the midst of a seven-match unbeaten streak.
A year ago, GW grabbed a 2-0 victory over SJU with goals from Cowley and senior Kate Elson. The Colonials lead in the all-time series with the Hawks, 10-5-2.
St. Bonaventure (3-5-1) most recently snapped a three-match skid with a 2-1 win against Bryant on Saturday. The Bonnies will open A-10 play on Thursday at George Mason.
St. Bonaventure ranks second in the league with 5.56 saves per game heading into the first week of conference play, and keeper Lauren Malcolm sits atop the A-10 with 5.44 stops per contest, but the Bonnies have allowed 14 goals through their first nine contests to rank 10th in the league.
The Colonials and Bonnies competed in a double-overtime battle a year ago, taking a 1-1 tie into the 103rd minute before the Buff and Blue netted the golden goal to come away with the victory. GW also leads the all-time series with St. Bonaventure, 12-4-2.
Sunday marks GW's annual Kick it for a Cure game, when the Colonials will don pink uniforms to raise breast cancer awareness.
