The Colonials (10-4-1, 4-1-1 A-10) have triumphed in their last three conference matchups, most recently downing Richmond, 2-1, at home on Sunday. GW enters the week in fourth place in the league standings with four A-10 contests remaining.
Senior MacKenzie Cowley has consistently led the offense this season, recording a team-best 19 points (9g, 1a) with four gamewinners on the year to rank tied for second in the league. In A-10 play, Cowley has tallied three scores and an assist.
Senior Lina Proska has stepped up against conference foes, posting two goals - both gamewinners - and two assists.
Redshirt junior Miranda Horn has been a force between the posts all season, owning a conference-best 0.55 goals-against average on the season with just eight goals allowed and seven shutouts. Horn's 0.889 save percentage leads the A-10 and ranks ninth in the nation.
Fordham (8-4-3, 3-1-2 A-10) enters the week ranking sixth in the A-10 standings and is unbeaten in five of its last six matches. The Rams rank fourth in the conference with a 0.95 goals-against average.
George Mason (10-5-0, 4-2 A-10) sits right behind the Colonials in fifth in the league standings and most recently grabbed a dominant 4-0 win over Davidson at home on Sunday. Mason will face VCU on Thursday.
The Patriots are tied for third in the conference with 28 goals scored this season, but have allowed 22 goals in 2016 to rank 10th in the A-10.
A year ago the Colonials edged Fordham, 1-0, before downing George Mason, 1-0, in a double-overtime battle on Cowley's golden goal. GW looks to avenge a 1-0 loss to the Patriots in the first round of the A-10 Championship last season.
Sunday marks GW's Senior Day, when Cowley, Proska, Brooke Bean, Erin Boudreau, Bri Byrne, Ellie De Carlo, Kate Elson, Kiara Robertson and Ivana Szwejkowski will be honored in a pregame ceremony.
