WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's soccer squad returned to the GW Soccer Field on the Mount Vernon Campus on Wednesday to begin preseason training for the upcoming 2015 season.
The Colonials kicked off the first day of practice with two rounds of training under the direction of fourth-year head coach Sarah Barnes. Coach Barnes and first-year assistant coach Jeremy Williams worked with the field players while first-year assistant coach Erin Ridley directed goalkeeping drills.
"It was great to get back out on the field," said Coach Barnes. "Our team arrived on campus physically fit, and overall our coaching staff was happy with the first training sessions. We are definitely excited for the upcoming season."
The squad will practice twice per day during preseason practices with one exhibition game at American on Wednesday, Aug. 12, as a tune-up before the season opener against UC Riverside on Friday, Aug. 21, in Fullerton, California.
The Buff and Blue return 23 letterwinners and add eight freshmen to the lineup this fall.
