Persons posted his fifth career top-10 performance and second career top-5 with a tie for fifth place out of 104 players at George Mason's Patriot Intercollegiate. He helped GW finish in solo fifth at the 17-team event on the par-71, 7,010-yard Laurel Hill Golf Club in Lorton, Virginia with a 24-over 876 team total, the eighth-lowest 54-hole team total in program history.
The senior tied for the most birdies in the field with 13 en route to a even-par 213 total (72-71-70), which tied for the seventh-lowest 54-hole score in program history, just six shots off his own school record of 207 set in October 2011. The Colonial of the Week award is the third of Persons' career.
