While GW's men's basketball program has fans in Foggy Bottom dreaming of the potential of this year's squad, the team owes a debt of gratitude to the support of the Office of Alumni Relations who packed the GW sections of downtown DC's Verizon Center during the Colonials buzzer-beating 77-75 win over DMV foe Maryland in the BB&T Classic.
A pregame reception spearheaded by Senior Director of Alumni Relations Maggie Wilson brought alumni, students and season-ticket holders together for food, drink and rallying speeches by Director of Athletics Patrick Nero and Head Coach Mike Lonergan. After GW memories were relived and new acquaintances made, the spirit program and GW band led the assemblage in cheering on the Buff and Blue. Graduate student Maurice Creek sent the crowd home in ecstasy, but it was the Office of Alumni Relations whose spirit carried the day.
