The Colonials (3-4) rattled off six shots in the second half alone, but the young team failed to connect and stood scoreless for the second straight contest, dropping its third match this season by a one-goal deficit.
Senior Adriana Moya recorded a team-high three shots while sophomore Meg Murphy and freshman Amanda Gaggioli each registered two. Rookie goalkeeper Nicole Fasano made seven stops, including five in the second half.
After entering halftime with a 0-0 draw,
GW took four of the final nine shots to close the match, but the Colonials could not find the back of the net to send the contest into overtime. The Buff and Blue's offensive efforts forced
The Colonials return to the GW Soccer Field on the Mount Vernon Campus for a five-match homestand beginning with American on Tuesday, Sept. 18. Action is slated for 4 p.m.
