Event: Atlantic 10 Championship

The fourth-seeded George Washington softball team advanced to the Atlantic 10 Championship title game for the first time in program history last week. Despite falling to top-seeded Massachusetts, 3-2, in the finals, the Colonials finished with a school-record 25 victories. GW routed Charlotte, 9-2, in the first game of the tournament, and also defeated Saint Joseph's, 1-0, before knocking off defending A-10 champion Fordham, 4-1, in a 14-inning marathon to reach the championship. Seniors Kara Clauss and Heidi Penna and freshman Victoria Valos were selected to the All-Tournament Team.
