PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The George Washington women's soccer team outshot Temple, 12-8, Sunday afternoon, but it was not enough to overcome the Owls' first-half goal as the Colonials were edged, 1-0, at Ambler Sports Complex.
GW (4-8-2) played its final road match of the regular season Sunday, finishing the difficult open of Atlantic 10 play with a 1-1-2 league mark. The Colonials will play their final five regular-season matches at Mount Vernon Field.
The Colonials held a 4-1 advantage in shots in the first half when Jourdan Brill linked with goal scorer
GW opened the second period with back-to-back shots from juniors Molly Bruh and Adriana Moya in the 48th and 50th minutes, respectively, but neither attempt could find the back of the net. The Owls' defense proved stout as the Colonials had two corner-kick opportunities in the period, but could not fire off a shot.
The Colonials outshot the Owls, 8-5, in the second half and held a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks. Rowe made two saves in the second period to total three stops on the day. Moya and Bruh each tallied a team-high two shots.
The Colonials begin a five-match homestand at Mount Vernon Field Friday, Oct. 14 with a 4:00 p.m. match against defending A-10 champion
