GW Womens Soccer Falls, 2-1, to Fordham

BRONX, NY - GW women's soccer tied the game at 1-1 early in the second half against Fordham, but were unable to get ahead, falling 2-1 in the Friday Atlantic 10 Conference match-up at Jack Coffey Field. The Colonials fall to 9-6-0, 3-3-0 in the A10, while the Rams improve to 6-9-1, 2-3-1.
Senior Michelle Aueron tied up match in the 64th minute, catching a flick pass from junior Sierra Smidinger, for her first goal of the season.
In the 82nd minute Michelle Ancelj put the game-winner in off a pass from Lauren Nowakowski, who scored the first goal of the game in the first half.
The Rams got on the board in the 15th minute, when Nowakowski put a pass from Mariella Romano and Kelsey Daugherty Howard past the outstretched hands of GW goalkeeper Lindsey Rowe.
The Colonials were held to only four shots, with two on goal, while the Rams had nine snots with six on goal. GW had four corners to Fordham's three.
GW stays on the road this weekend, traveling to Philadelphia, for a Sunday match against La Salle. Kick off is set for 1:00 p.m. at McCarthy Stadium.
