In the first competition of 2010 for the GW swim team, the URI Invitational, freshman Niklas Glenesk won the 1000-yard freestyle in 9:50.36. He also raced in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing second with a time of 1:45.08 on the second day of the event.

Glenesk took second in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:48.13, on the first day of the Invitational against three other Atlantic 10 schools; La Salle, Massachusetts, and host Rhode Island.
