
GW Soccer Programs Earn NSCAA Team Academic Award

WASHINGTON, DC -- The George Washington University men's and women's soccer programs were recently named recipients of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) College Team Academic Award for the 2008-09 academic year, one of 97 institutions to have both squads qualify.
A total of 570 soccer teams from all levels of NCAA competition (141 men, 329 women) posted a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher for 2008-09.
The women's program had 18 players with a 3.0 or higher and a team grade-point average of 3.46, second among all GW women's athletic programs for 2008-09.
The men's soccer program posted a team grade-point average of 3.20 in the same academic season with 20 players achieving a 3.0 GPA or higher. The Colonials men's team has also been honored with the NCAA Public Recognition Award for exemplary Academic Progress Rate (APR) in each of the past two years.
