PHILADELPHIA, PA-- George Washington University sophomore Lindsey Rowe (Richmond, VA\Godwin) was named Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week on Monday, after posting two shutout wins at Mount Vernon Field against St. Bonaventure and Duquesne this weekend. She shares the award with Whitney Weinraub from Charlotte.
"This honor highlights the hard work Lindsey put in," head coach Tanya Vogel said. "She played extraordinarily well this weekend."
Rowe collected 10 saves in a total of 180 minutes. She recorded her 10th career shutout with the 1-0 win over the Dukes on Sunday.
"This award is also a tribute to the team defending in front of Lindsey. They have done well to limit the shots she has faced and made big plays to clear the ball down field to our forwards," said Vogel.
In 16 starts this season for the Colonials, Rowe leads the A-10 with 76 saves, averaging 4.75 a game. She is tied for third in the A-10 with three shutouts against conference opponents this season.
The Colonials close out the 2009 regular season on the road, taking on Massachusetts Friday, Oct. 30 at 2:30 p.m. GW then travels to play Rhode Island on Sunday, Nov. 1 with kickoff set for 11:00 a.m. The 2009 Atlantic 10 Women's Soccer Championship will feature the top six teams on Nov. 5-8 at Transamerica Field, hosted by Charlotte.
