In the first game ever played at Nationals Park, Cantrell struck out seven batters and allowed just four hits in eight innings pitched as he led GW to a 9-4 victory over Saint Joseph's Saturday afternoon. Making only his fourth collegiate start, Eric took a one-hitter into the eighth inning, and at one point retired nine consecutive batters on his way to earning his third win of 2008. Through the first seven innings, Cantrell surrendered just one hit and four total base runners. The freshman, now 3-1, lowered his ERA to 4.97 and is now tied for the team-lead with 27 strikeouts this season.
