WASHINGTON, DC - George Washington freshman Kristen Slack (Northville, MI/Northville) was named the Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Rookie of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Slack led the way for the Colonials last week, scoring her first collegiate goal and notching the first two assists of her young career. The forward's efforts helped GW capture the Vermont TD Banknorth Classic, held over the weekend in Burlington, VT.
In her first ever college match, Slack scored a goal in the 19th minute that proved to be the difference as GW held on for the 1-0 victory over New Hampshire. On Sunday, in the tournament's championship match, Slack assisted on both of the Colonials' goals in their 2-1 overtime win versus host-school Vermont.
Through the first two matches of the season, Slack leads the team with four points.
George Washington (2-0-0) makes their 2007 home debut on Wednesday, Sept. 5, when they play host to Marshall (1-0-0) at 4:00 p.m. The Colonials are 1-0-0 all-time against the Thundering Herd, winning last year's meeting, 2-0.
