
Freshmen Lead GW Swimming and Diving In Split With ODU

WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University swimming and diving teams hosted Old Dominion University Saturday afternoon at the Charles E. Smith Athletic Center Pool as the women's team defeated the Monarchs 128.5 - 108.5 and the men's squad lost 146.5 - 91.5.
Fresh off her performance in the U.S. Open at Auburn on Thursday and Friday, senior Maggie Moss (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) posted first place finishes in the 200-yard individual medley (2:11.27) and 200 yard backstroke (2:07.24).
Freshman Lauren Fuchs (E. Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) placed right behind Moss for second in the 200-yard IM (2:16.46) and also took second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:28.66).
Finishing in front of Fuchs in the 200-yard breaststroke was teammate Ariana Berdini (Woodstock, GA/Etowah), as the freshman took first in the event with a time of 2:27.13.
Other first place finishes for the women included freshman Laura Myers (Cedarburg, WI/Divine Savior Holy Angels) who won the 50-yard freestyle event (24.92 seconds).
For the men, freshman David Zenk (St. Louis, MO/St. Louis Country Day School) earned a first place finish in the 200-yard IM (1:55.50) and a second place finish in the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.30).
Sophomore Jeffrey Glazer (Dix Hills, NY/Commack) took first in the 500-yard freestyle (4:47.60) and senior Mark Adam (Millersville, MD/ Severna Park) was first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:12.31).
As for diving, senior Alicia Moulton (North Andover, MA/North Andover) took first place in both the one-meter (216.30 points) and three-meter (230.48) events.
The Colonials do not return to action until Jan. 13-14 when they face Rhode Island, Massachusetts and LaSalle in a meet hosted by the Rams.
