GW Women Fall to Richmond in Swimming and Diving

WASHINGTON, DC - The George Washington University women's swimming and diving team faced-off against the University of Richmond, Wednesday afternoon, and fell 173-119 in the women-only home meet at Smith Center Pool.
The Colonials' closed out the contest by winning the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:41.95 seconds.
Juniors Maggie Moss (Indianapolis, IN/North Central) and Christina Boland (Purcelville, VA/Loudon Valley), sophomore Monica Pampell (Albuquerque, NM/Albuquerque) and freshman Megan Loock (Southbury, CT/Hopkins School) all contributed in the victory.
Moss also placed first in the 200-yard backstroke (2:04.44) and second in the 100-yard backstroke (57.58 seconds).
Boland recorded a first place win in the 50-yard freestyle (25.54 seconds) and second place finishes in the 100-yard freestyle (55.14 seconds) and 200-yard freestyle.
Loock also notched two second place finishes in the meet, posting a time of 5:14.78 in the 500-yard freestyle and 10:43.53 in the 1000-yard freestyle.
Senior Kirsten Rasmuson's (San Diego, CA/Mt. Carmel) time of 1:07.60 in the 100-yard backstroke placed her second in the event.
In the diving portion of the meet, Katura Horton-Perinchief (Sandys, Bermuda / Richview Collegiate Institute (Toronto, ONT) remained undefeated in the one-meter and three-meter events.
Horton-Perinchief took the one-meter with a score of 235.13 points and the three-meter with a score of 260.93 points.
Both the GW men's and women's swimming and diving teams return to action Saturday as they travel to West Point, NY to battle Army. The meet begins at 2:00 p.m.
