Women's Soccer's Kim Warner Earns NSCAA Honor

WASHINGTON, DC - Senior sensation Kim Warner (North York, Ontario/St. Joseph's) was named to the 2003 National Soccer Coaches Association of America All Mid-Atlantic Second Team. Warner earns this distinction from the NSCAA for the second-straight year.
Warner was one of three Atlantic 10 athletes named to the second team. The A-10 had three more players on the third team for six total. Richmond earned the most accolades with three of the honors. GW finished seventh in the Atlantic 10 this year and just missed the final conference playoff spot. Warner will graduate after the end of Fall 2003 semester.
Warner, Last year's Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year, tied for the conference lead in goals with 13 in the regular season. She led the league last year with 15 and finished her GW career with 41 goals, good for third-place all-time and just three behind second and four behind first.
Of Warner's 41 career goals, 15 were game-winners including a league-high tying six this season. Warner had 27 points this season tied for second in the A-10 and finishes her college career with 91 points which is third all-time at GW just five behind second place. Warner, GW's most prolific scorer in recent history, also notched nine assists in her career.
With a winning-percentage of .647, the 2003 Colonials (11-6-2 overall, 5-5-1 A-10 7th) completed their fourth-best season in the program's 24-year history and best since 1997. The Colonials also had their best-ever start with a 9-3-2 record through 15 games.
